Behind The Ingredient - Lecithin

Skin ageing is an unavoidable aspect of human life. Premature skin aging can result from many external factors: poor care, environmental pollutants and ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure. Wrinkles, lines, spots, uneven skin tone along with pigmentation are often signs of skin aging. We cannot avoid aging but Certified Organic cosmetics approaches we can minimize and delay the damage. Topical applications of biocompatible and biodegradable 'Delivery Technologies' have been explored for delivering (carrying) age-delaying compounds (ingredients), here we take a closer look at Lecithin...

What is Lecithin

Lecithin is a generic term to designate any group of fatty substances occurring in animal and plant tissues composed of phosphoric acid, choline, fatty acids, glycerol, glycolipids, triglycerides, and phospholipids. It can easily be extracted chemically or mechanically from readily available sources such as soy beans, rapeseed, cottonseed and sunflower. Lecithin is sold as a food supplement and for medical uses. It's use mainly arises from it being an emulsifier, lubricant and a surfactant.

skincare benefits

Lecithin is an emollient: Which is a softening and soothing agent. It's powerful moisturising properties help to keep the skin hydrated, making it an excellent additive for restorative creams, or for products designed for mature, dry, or overworked skin. It also has the unique ability to deeply penetrate the skin, and carry substances directly to the cells and the bloodstream. As a result, it may assist the body in absorbing other properties as well. If a product is created with natural and healing ingredients, the addition of Lecithin would actually bring those beneficial properties to the cellular level.

Active Additive: It helps to soften and moisturise the skinlecithin granules

Penetration Enhancer: Lecithin is an important component of all living cells and is recognised by Food and Drug Administration as SAFE. It has a unique lipid molecular structure performs as a skin penetration enhancer.

Antioxidant: It helps to repair free radical damage, soothing inflamed, irritated skin

Hydrophilic ingredient: It attracts water to the skin, working to prevent moisture loss from deep within the skin tissues

Moisturising: It is very moisturising, which is due to its high levels of oleic and linoleic acid.

We have incorporated Lecithin Extract into Our Hero Product launching 2019.

Until next time..

Thank you Tess and what a great question! the short answer: End of 2017 or perhaps the beginning of 2018.
This has been a long process, formulating with certified organic ingredients and working with suppliers, along with the organic certification process and manufacturers has been a journey. My personal opinion is this often times frustrating process has been worth the wait, hand on heart this is my hero product and it had to perfectly reflect the Brand values – be human, be kind, be you.
