B is for Beautiful skin
With a number of studies demonstrating how the inclusion of Vitamin B in skincare products can help to prevent the signs of ageing in particular, Vitamin B3 (Niacin), has been shown to improve the ability of the epidermis, (the top layer of the skin) to retain moisture – improving the skin barrier leading to softer, smoother skin with reduced dryness and flakiness, and a reduction of fine lines. It is beneficial in the treatment of rosacea and protects against harmful UV rays of sun that cause skin cancer.
A study by Bisset et al, presented at the Annual Meeting of Dermatology in 2003, demonstrated that a topical form of vitamin B was shown to dramatically reduce the effects of ageing in human skin.
B-Complex Vitamins enhance skin health through promoting robust hair, skin and nails, via counteracting damage caused by free-radicals – (molecules that breakdown healthy cells contributing to inflammation ageing and disease).

- Inositol (Fomally was known as vitamin B8 and considered part of the family of B complex vitamins. But once it was discovered that the body could make its own inositol, it was no longer considered a true vitamin.)
All the B vitamins importantly, work together in a synergistic way to:

- Maintaining the nervous system
- Preventing cancer
- Ensuring healthy metabolism
- Combating the negative effects of stress
- Preserving the quality of the skin
Vitamin B deficiency
Even though vitamin B is necessary to protect the overall health of your body, many of it's functions are unseen and undetected by the naked eye, but problems in the skin are obvious. A vitamin B deficiency can cause acne, sensitivity to sunlight, cracked lips, dryness, wrinkles, rashes, and an uneven complexion. If you are suffering with chronic skin issues, or perhaps in despair trying to deal with a dull and unhealthy complexion, the cause may be a Vitamin B deficiency.
B1 - Is an antioxidant that helps to increase blood circulation. It also protects us from the effects of ageing, smoking and alcohol consumption.
B2 - Helps to keep skin healthy and prevents acne breakout.
B3 - Is used to improve the appearance or severity of some skin conditions.
B5 - Has shown the capability to reduce oil formation and thus, reduces acne formation. It has also become very popular in skin care industry because of its ability to assist in retaining moisture. It helps hydrate and hydrated skin appears plumper, healthier and shows signs of ageing much slower. Vitamin B5 is also needed for healthy growth and production to fight eczema. also helps to promote faster healing of skin wounds and is most effective when combined with Vitamin C
B6 - Is needed for a wide range of bodily functions like cellular metabolism, energy production, red blood cell development. It prevents the hormonal imbalance that can causes acne. Important in maintaining the good condition of skin. It helps in treating a number of skin problems, including eczema, dandruff, acne, hair loss, and dry skin. Used in treating serious skin diseases like melanoma and psoriasis.
B7 - Is required to make skin, hair and nails healthy. It also helps to treat specific skin diseases like seborrhoea dermatitis, acne and eczema.
B9 - An essential element in the formation of red blood cells, responsible for replacing old cells with new ones, keeping our body fresh and new. Aids in building and repairing skin cells.
B12 - Helps to regulate your skin’s pigment production and location, preventing hyperpigmentation – the darkening of skin in certain parts of your body. A deficiency causes an increase in melanin synthesis and therefore hyperpigmentation of the skin
Inositol - Important for the health of Skin and hair, takes part in the skins repair process. An absence of this vitamin can cause dermatitis.
Eat yourself to glowing skin
One of the highest amounts of Vitamin B's are found in fish, getting sufficient vitamins and minerals in your diet will not only benefit your body but will also take care of your skin. Vitamin B speeds up cell metabolism and promotes healthy skin. Research has revealed that Vitamin B can benefit our skin, both when ingested and when applied topically. For healthy skin make sure that you are getting Vitamin B through diet (along with your skin care regime). Vitamin B holds a very important place in the enhancement of healthier and glowing skin. It not only keeps the skin tone even but also protects against eczema. It prevents the skin from getting puffy and enhances the permeation of blood and fluids into different areas of the skin, so that the outer layers of the skin on our body can receive oxygen that is carried by the blood.
Natural Sources Of Vitamin B
Yogurt: Vitamin B obtained from dairy products for example yogurt and protects the skin from crackling and drying out. It contains the following B vitamins //
