OUR Earth First Philosophy

We create Luxury, Artisan-Crafted Skincare, from the Highest Quality Raw Ingredients, Sustainably, Without Causing Harm to the earth, air, or water

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

What We Do

The cornerstone on which FIFTY7KIND is built, the very heart of our foundation, is sustainability and transparency, but how do we create a consumer product while negating our impact on the planet?

I have lost sleep and continue lose sleep over this never-ending quest! So let's take five, grab a cup of tea/coffee while we go behind the 'brand' and show you (not tell you via greenwashing marketing spin) how FIFTY7KIND is doing what is right for the planet, and for the future - we urgently need to think beyond now and our lifespans.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot nothing is going to get better. It's not”
Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

My daily mantra is asking myself the question:
"is this the best decision I can make today with the resources I have available"?

At FIFTY7KIND I concentrate on making fewer products that are expertly formulated offering multi-beneficial skin results.

I will innovate and elevate the formulation of an existing product, as I have with all FIFTY7KIND products, rather than creating single ingredient hero products!

A tightly curated line of self-care products offering not only efficacy but multi-use-capabilities, is another important step in limiting our carbon footprint - this is doing more with less.
This is our 'Earth First Philosophy'.

Cornerstone

Carbon Footprint

Manufacturing and distribution of any consumable product including skincare create carbon emissions, as does the supply chain - this includes: the sourcing of ingredients and packaging components that all contribute to our overall Carbon Footprint.

Carbon emissions matter, greenhouse gasses are contributing towards climate change preventing heat escaping out of the atmosphere; more extreme weather worldwide. Here in Australia we are seeing longer bushfire seasons, with larger and more intense fires that are wiping out the natural habitat of our native animals, and our unique rich biodiversity, destroying lives, homes and businesses.

2022 mass floods in Australia - that were 'once in a hundred years  events' are now happening far more frequently, with long drought in other regions, along with rising sea levels are becoming a major concern  - approximately 80% of Australia's population live near to the ocean.

Beginning January 2022 we started to offset our Supply Chain Emissions - with the GoGreen climate neutral service, as part of our shipping partnership (for both imports and exports) with DHL Express. The GoGreen program offsets our greenhouse gas logistics emissions through investments in internationally recognized climate protection projects.

We are constantly striving to create a positive impact on our environment with our business practices, our commitments include:

  • PLANTING TREES - For every online order of NADI Innate Flow Quell Balsam, we plant one tree in Australia.

We plant one tree in Australia for each online sale of NADI - Innate Flow Quell Balsam

Restoring forests also means restoring habitat critical to conserving Australia's unique wildlife. Healthy forests ecosystems support higher biodiversity and are more resilient to the stressors of climate change.

DISCOVER NADI

Protect Wildlife

Helps to prevent bushfires in Australia from spreading catastrophically. Young, healthy forests can help suppress future wildfires and reduce the impact of smoke on public health and native ecosystems.

Reforestation efforts assist native vegetation in growing back, while also improving soil quality, preventing erosion, and controlling invasive species - which can be particularly aggressive after forest fires without intervention.

Small Batch Beauty

The Only Sustainable Future

Small-Batch Beauty, as the name suggests is creating products in small batches, this however is more than a 'buzz word' and there is much to be concerned about when it comes to conscious-creation and conscious consumerism; this is a intentional decision to live by the values we strive for: to not harm the earth, air or water.

At FIFTY7KIND we have chosen to invest in creating our own creative space and mini lab so we can carry our own Research and Design, formulate and manufacture our products. This enables ultimate control over quality and quantity, allowing us to manage the footprint we leave on our precious Planet Earth.

All our products are concentrates, meaning they are very concentrated formulations, only a small amount is required to show and for your to feel efficacious results, each is multi-functional replacing the need for multiple products and the need to apply layer, upon layer of products!

Small-Batch Big Benefits

CREATING POSITIVE CHANGE

Ensuring our customers and wonderful retail partners receive the freshest most alive (active) products possible, often within days of the batch being created. We actually use two methods Small-Batch and Micro-batch to fulfil orders.

  • TIME - Artisan methods are a slow and time consuming method of production.
  • MOQ - We often do not meet the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for raw ingredients so pay a premium price to purchase in smaller quantities.
  • SHIPPING - Smaller more frequent ordering of raw ingredients results in more shipping fees which during 2021/22 have more than tripled!

“Our products are not for everyone, slow-artisan methods
with conscious small-batch manufacturing, - we don't aspire
to be for everyone.”

We Make Products To Order

We Don't Over Manufacturer

SMALL-BATCH PRODUCTION - For our retail partners we run small-batch production.
MICRO-BATCHING - We then go one step further for direct to customer orders made on our website, by creating fresh micro-batches batches of products weekly.
PRODUCTS SAT ON SHELVES - This avoids waste and having to have "sales" which is often a way for brands to shift products that a running low on their allotted shelf life.
THROWING OUT PRODUCTS OR INGREDIENTS - This is so overlooked and so important, unused or unfinished products and or raw ingredients have to be disposed of safely.

This method of conscious sustainable manufacturing comes at a high cost:

The alternative of mass manufacturing poses an even higher cost to our precious planet Earth and the lives of our future generations.

  • Plastic Pollution
  • Water waste
  • Natural resources waste
  • Overproduction of ingredients that have not been grown or produced in a sustainable manner.
  • Destruction of forests to clear land to plant mass produced ingredients for example non Certified Sustainable Palm Oil.
  • Damaging farming methods - conventional farming relies on practices that ultimately damage the health of the soil, producing raw ingredients that are devoid of the precious antioxidants and potent plant compounds we seek for our "efficacious" products.
